Mobile Veterinary Ultrasound
Ultrasound uses sound waves to view internal organs, the abdominal cavity, and tissue without the need for an invasive procedure. The images are formed when the sound waves bounce back to a transducer and develop as an image on our computer screen. Abdominal ultrasound can be instrumental in the diagnosis of many diseases and conditions.
Diseases & Conditions Ultrasound Can Help Diagnose
Ultrasound of the abdomen can cover the entire abdominal organ system, making it an extremely useful diagnostic tool. Additionally, we can perform a single-organ system ultrasound to focus on a specific organ or system of organs. Common conditions these types of ultrasounds can help diagnose include:
Pyelonephritis
Cushing’s Disease
Polycystic kidneys
Renal dysplasia
Nephrolithiasis
Neoplasia
While ultrasound is an effective diagnostic tool, it is not always able to give a definitive diagnosis. This is especially true if we find a mass—with the image alone, we are not able to see what type of tissue it is (whether malignant or benign). A sample of tissue will need to be taken for analysis.
Inflammatory bowel disease
Gastrointestinal obstruction
Splenic torsion
Pancreatitis
Reproductive diseases
